ADMISSIONS FAQs

WHEN SHOULD I APPLY FOR RECEPTION?

Applications may be made for our Foundation Class (Reception) at any time, but processing will begin in the Spring Term preceding the academic year your child turns 5 years old.

WHEN SHOULD I APPLY FOR YEAR 7?

You are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Applications will start to be processed towards the end of the Autumn Term of Year 6 - once we have established which pupils from our existing Year 6 will continue their Secondary education at The King's School. As this annually includes most of our Year 6 pupils, new applications for Year 7 will be processed in the order in which they are received.

WHAT DENOMINATION IS THE KING'S SCHOOL?

The King's School accepts applications from members of the Christian community from across Christian denominations.

CAN I APPLY FOR ADMISSIONS AT ANY TIME DURING THE ACADEMIC YEAR?

Yes. We are happy to receive applications for mid-term admissions and will seek to process them as quickly as possible, following the usual admissions procedures.

DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO TAKE AN ENTRANCE EXAM?

No. The admissions process may include a day or two for your child to spend at The King’s School in their current year group. During that time they may be given some benchmarking papers in order to assess their academic levels.

DOES THE SCHOOL OFFER BURSARIES FOR NEW APPLICANTS?

Although the school offers financial assistance in the form of bursaries to parents of existing pupils whose circumstances require temporary support, it is not our practice to offer bursaries for new admissions. Exceptions may be made for ministers and missionaries.

DOES THE SCHOOL PROVIDE WRAP-AROUND CARE?

No. However, we do have a regular Bible After School Club on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for pupils in Years 1-4, and we usually offer a sports club after school on Mondays and Thursdays for pupils in Years 5-11.

DOES THE SCHOOL OFFER A SCHOOL BUS SERVICE

The King's School has two minibus services operated by parent volunteers for the daily pick-up and drop-off. One service covers the Luton, Dunstable and Caddington areas, while the other serves fixed locations in Watford and Hemel Hempstead.

For more details, please click on the links for each service: Luton and Watford/HH

ARE WE ABLE TO APPLY UNDER THE BNO VISA SYSTEM OR THE CHILD STUDENT ROUTE?

Yes. Families entering the UK under the BNO visa scheme can apply for a place. We also have a limited number of places available under the Child Student Route (formerly Tier4). Please contact the school for more details.
